Big-hearted staff at a Salford-based company clocked up more than 100 hours volunteering to help good causes across the region and beyond.
Employees of RECOM Solutions, headquartered at Waters Edge Business Park in Salford Quays, devoted their time to charities and community projects across the country.
Staff from the construction project management and consultancy company collected more than 160 toy gifts for Wood Street Mission, a children’s charity which helps children and families living in poverty in Salford.
The charity supports disadvantaged children by providing essentials, including clothing, bedding and baby equipment. It also helps fund education through school supplies and literacy programmes.
Kathryn Tighe, fundraising lead at Wood Street Mission, said: “The support from RECOM for the Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal will help to make Christmas morning special for children in Manchester and Salford living in low-income families, ensuring they have gifts and will have a story to tell their friends when they go back to school.
“We couldn’t do this without the valuable support of local businesses like RECOM.”
Sarah Leadbetter, head of RECOM’s passive fire protection division, said: “Community Week at RECOM provided a chance for our team to step away from the day-to-day and focus on what social value really means to us.
“It was incredibly rewarding to see different parts of our business come together to make a positive impact, particularly at this time of year.
“We chose the run-up to Christmas as it’s a time when more individuals and families find themselves in need of extra help, and kind and practical actions of others can really have an impact.
“By supporting local projects and initiatives, we were able to give something meaningful back to the communities where we operate across the country, helping to make a tangible difference for the people who live and work there.
“Moments like these remind us why contributing to the wellbeing and resilience of our communities is so important, and reinforce our ongoing commitment to creating social value through the projects we deliver.
