An 80-year-old man from Salford has been charged with the false imprisonment and attempted robbery of a 95-year-old woman.

Greater Manchester Police say Edwin Morrison of Manchester Road, Worsley was charged with two counts of false imprisonment, attempted robbery, intentional strangulation and common assault.

Morrison has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Salford and Manchester Magistrates Friday 30 January.

The charges relate to an incident at an address in Little Hulton, Salford, on Tuesday 27 January where an elderly woman was tied up and threatened, a force spokesperson confirmed.
