Bank of Dave Star Announced

The lead casting for the production of Bank of Dave the Musical has been revealed ahead of the show’s opening at The Lowry Theatre.

An Only Fools and Horses tour star will take centre stage playing the titular character, Dave, when the show arrives in Salford this May.

The production announced much of its cast last month, including Hayley Tamaddon (of Coronation Street and Emmerdale) playing Nicky, Lucca Chadwick-Patel (Previously in Mean Girls) as Hugh and Claire Moore and Lauryn Redding were cast as Maureen and Alex.

But now, they have confirmed Sam Lupton (Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses UK tour, Boq in Wicked, West End) as Dave Fishwick.

Bank of Dave the Musical  is based on the Sunday Times best-selling book, BAFTA Award-winning documentary and global hit Netflix film of the same name, with a screenplay by Piers Ashworth.

Dave Fishwick described the musical based off his life as “The humour of The Full Monty with the spirit of Billy Elliot, but with a few more ba*tard bankers, and an unlikely hero from Burnley!’

The organisers said: “A self-made millionaire, Dave spent years helping local people and small businesses when hard-nosed banks turned them away. Frustrated by the system, he has an idea… to set up his own bank and put the profits straight back into his community.

“With posh but principled lawyer Hugh at his side, Dave swaps Burnley for London to take on the banking bigwigs and fight for a fairer deal. But will the fat cats of the City make way for Dave’s dreams?”

The behind-the-scenes cast will be Rob Madge with the Book and Lyrics. Additionally, Pippa Cleary for music and Lyrics. Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster will direct the production.

Fishwick said, “I’m just an ordinary lad from Burnley doing extraordinary things. If I can make it happen, you can too. Always have the courage to follow your dreams.”

The play will be on at the Lowry Theatre in May, it will then travel to the Curve in Leicester.
