Free accessible early morning yoga sessions will continue to run for the next year every Wednesday in Media City, it’s been confirmed.
Carly Tong founded The Wellness Hub six years ago and is dedicated to creating a community within Salford, through expert-led yoga and stretching sessions.
The Wellness Hub has been created not only to provide physical exercise, but to provide a chance to socialise and educate the neighbourhood.
Recent events have included a Hong Kong experience workshop where attendees were taught about the culture, food and daily life within Hong Kong by an assistant born and raised there.
A beginner-friendly Saturday morning full body stretching class to improve flexibility and release tightness runs regularly with a social coffee session after to meet likeminded individuals for £15.
Carly said: “I teach a lot of my community led classes because I really love it, as a minority I kind of want to bring different cultures so we have teachers from all different backgrounds.
“Being Chinese I want to bring different cultures, so we have teachers from all different backgrounds and hopefully I really get to expand on that. I am also neurodivergent, hopefully we can really speak to everyone and be able to create a a friendly space that people are finding quite safe.
“Before yoga was associated with being quite girly but a lot of guys join our classes, it’s really for everyone.”
The Wellness Hub continue planning what they can bring to the community with activities such as workplace well-being for workers to reset and recharge. Many new and creative workshops are available to join like flower arranging, centred around bringing people together and creating a network of likeminded people.
