A new free exhibition celebrating the identity and history of the city has opened at Salford Museum and Art Gallery.
Your Salford 100 brings together 100 objects and artworks chosen by residents, groups and organisations from across Salford. Each participant was invited to select an item from the museum’s collection that they felt best represented the city’s people, places and culture.
The exhibitions form part of the wider Salford 100 celebrations and aim to showcase the stories, memories and experiences that make the city unique. From historic artefacts to works of art, every object on display offers a different perspective on Salford and the people who call it home.
Unlike traditional museum exhibitions, which are often curated by professionals, Your Salford 100 places local voices at the centre of the project. By involving residents directly, the exhibitions aim to celebrate civic pride while preserving memories and stories connected to the city.
The display forms part of the wider Salford 100 programme, which marks an important milestone in the city’s history through a series of cultural events and celebrations.
The exhibition is free to attend and is being held at Salford Museum and Art Gallery and runs until 10 January 2027.
Visitors can explore the collection and discover how local people have helped shape a powerful snapshot of Salford’s past and present.
