A platinum-selling chart-topping disco group from the late 1970s, a MOBO award-winning hip hop act and a champion of RuPaul’s Drag Race are set to perform as Salford Pride marks its 15th anniversary this summer.

Thousands of people are expected to attend Peel Park in June to see a star-studded line-up, as the charity hosts its annual Pink Picnic event to celebrate Salford’s LGBTQ+ community.

The Pink Picnic is regarded as Greater Manchester’s largest grassroots Pride event and has been run entirely by volunteers since it was founded in 2011 to create an inclusive and equal community where LGBTQ+ people can thrive and live authentically.

Taking place on 13 June, this year’s milestone festival will feature a celebrity-packed line-up including headline performances from Boney M, Big Brovaz and drag superstar Kyran Thrax.

Pop duo The Cheeky Girls, dance music group Booty Luv, and Baby D, who topped the charts in the mid-90s with hit their single ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy’ will also perform at the event.

“Celebrating 15 years of Pride in Salford feels really special,” said Scott Turzański, Head of Marketing and Brand at Salford Pride. “The Pink Picnic has always been about community first.

It’s a chance to spend time with people who get it – to celebrate who we are, support each other, and create memories in a space that feels safe, joyful, and genuinely inclusive. And with this year’s headliners, we can’t wait to bring Peel Park to life.”

Alongside the main stage entertainment, the event will feature a packed programme designed to bring the park to life, with community stalls and plenty of opportunities to connect with local LGBTQ+ organisations and supporters.

Salford Pride is also encouraging local businesses and partners to get involved and show visible support for LGBTQ+ community across Salford and beyond.

As a registered charity since 2020, Salford Pride delivers The Pink Picnic alongside other year-round community projects, working to increase equality, visibility, and belonging for LGBTQ+ people.

Tickets and information about event are available on the Pink Picnic website.
