A Salford police officer

A man has been charged with an alleged dangerous driving offence in Salford.

David Smith of Curzon Street, Mossley, was arrested by Greater Manchester Police in connection with an incident on Leicester Road in Higher Broughton on Tuesday (May 19).

The 49-year-old has been charged with five counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and one count of dangerous driving.

“The charges relate to a report of suspected dangerous driving made to local officers on Leicester Road in Salford on Tuesday 19 May. Thankfully, no one was injured,” a GMP spokesperson said.

Smith has been remanded into custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Thursday 21 May 2026).
