A total of £4.4 million is going to be spent on affordable homes, sport facilities and green spaces across Salford – particularly in Little Hulton.
The cash comes from payments developers have to make towards community improvements and to offset the impact of their building.
The latest round of funding, known as Section 106, will be spent on new and improved sports facilities, including plans for new changing rooms and improved drainage of the sports pitches at Amblecote Playing Fields, Little Hulton.
It will also be used to improve parks, playing fields, allotments and sports facilities in Little Hulton and beyond. These will be funded through contributions from the former Brackley Golf Course development.
Mike McCusker, Deputy Salford City Mayor, said: “This investment from developers will make a huge difference to our communities. The funding will help us to improve areas and help towards mitigating the impact of development on local people.
“People are desperate for affordable homes so some of the money will help to bring these forward more quickly.
“Over recent years we have spent approximately £31 million of Section 106 money on a wide range of improvements across the city and it is great to be able to allocate this new round of money.”
A list of approved projects has been prepared relating to the improvement of open space and transport across Salford regarding the section 106 funding plans.
