Salford City supporters making the journey to London to watch their side in the League Two play-off final have been advised to “plan ahead” with record-breaking temperatures forecast in the capital.

Ammies fans descending on Wembley for the biggest game in the club’s 96-year history have been advised to prepare for sweltering heat, with Monday forecast to be the hottest bank Holiday on record, with historic temperatures of 34C set to hit the stadium.

The boiling hot forecast comes after the UK saw its hottest May day for at least 79 years on Sunday, with a high of 32.3C at Kew Gardens in south-west London.

And on Friday, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued its first amber health alert of 2026 for London, warning that there is a risk of a significant impact across health and social care services.

The alert will remain in place until Wednesday and indicates that the heat is considered to be dangerous for some vulnerable groups, including older adults, as their bodies struggle to regulate temperature.

Salford fans have been allocated the sun-drenched east side of Wembley Stadium and have been urged by play-off final organisers to “apply sun cream regularly, wear light, breathable clothing, drink plenty of water throughout the day and take breaks in shaded areas where possible.”

Salford City supporters have been advised to stay safe in the hot Wembley weather.

“Warm weather is forecast across the Bank Holiday weekend. Supporters travelling to Wembley Stadium for the EFL Play-Off Finals on Saturday, Sunday and Monday are advised to plan ahead and stay hydrated throughout the day,” a Wembley Stadium spokesperson said.

Travelling Ammies fans will hope to celebrate a Salford victory in the sunshine as the side take on Notts County for a third time this campaign.

Karl Robinson’s men completed a regular-season double over the Magpies, winning 2-1 at Meadow Lane and the Peninsula Stadium.

The 45-year-old manager will aim to ensure his side deal with the high heat in the capital as Salford bid to reach the third tier for the first time after seven seasons in League Two.

The Ammies face Notts County in the League Two play-off final on Monday, 3pm kick-off at Wembley Stadium.
