Swinton Lions were brutally beaten 66-18, but the game was overshadowed by a brawl in the closing stages.
The Broncos fielded a much-changed team for the last league game of the season before the playoffs, with only two in the squad from the 1895 cup victory, but they still ran in twelve tries in a game that ended with two red cards right at the end.
Liam Tindall opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a try in the right corner and Teddy Davidson converted.
The one-way flow continued four minutes later when Sadiq Adebiyi crashed over, and this was again converted; The Lions then tried to hit back but the ball went into touch. Two more tries in a four-minute period followed when Henry Lenthall and Sam Davis scored two impressive tries, and these were again converted by Davidson.
The Lions hit back on twenty minutes when the impressive Gav Rodden went on a run to set up Trent Kelly-Duffy to score under the posts and Reece Briers converted. Tindall grabbed his second three minutes later after a break down the right and this was quickly followed when Alex Max went over after good play by Will Jones and Davidson only converted one of these.
The Lions hit back again seven minutes from the break when Samy Kibula scored under the posts and Briers converted. Broncos added another just before the break when Marcus Stock who was causing all sorts of problems for the Lions defence, scored by the posts and this was converted,
The Lions started the second half on the attack but in the first set Max scooped up a loose pass to race eighty metres the other way and score and again this was converted. Max added his third on fifty-one minutes when he went over in the corner but no conversion to this one.
There was some heroic tackling from the Lions as Broncos tried to break them again and eventually, they did score with Lenthall adding his second. The Lions’ third try came on the hour when Rooden scored on the right and Briers converted again.
Stocked capped off a fine performance on sixty-six minutes going in again by the posts and this was converted.
The Lions were still trying and Ah Van almost scored in the corner but the kick was too strong.
With just a minute to go there was a big fight which flared up twice and referee Adam Williams produced a red card to the Lions’ Jordan Brown and Broncos Will Jones, Once the game restarted the Broncos finished it in style when former Lion Tommy Porter raced in under the posts and Davidson again converted to finish off a good day for the Young Broncos.
