Alex Murphy wins his fifth professional boxing fight.

Salford-born, Alex Murphy took his professional boxing record to 5-0, after a points decision victory over experienced Lee Hallett.

Murphy’s bout was part of a stacked card which took place at The University of Bolton Stadium on Friday night.

The 21-year-old made his professional debut in August 2021 and has since won five fights from five.

In the buildup to his latest win, Murphy trained and sparred alongside the likes of Campbell Hatton and Charlie Edwards. He also received praise from Heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte and his head coach Xavier Miller who watched him sparring before his recent fight.

Murphy trains out of Eccles Boxing School and has been boxing for over 13 years, the lockdowns during the pandemic delayed his progress after turning pro but he has since been able to show his skills in the professional game.

A Bolton Wanderers fan, the fight taking place at Murphy’s “beloved football club” was a huge moment for him. Alex was paraded on the pitch back in August for Bolton’s clash with Wycombe Wanderers, which he described as an “unreal experience” and a chance to grow his fanbase.

With five fights coming all in the space of 14 months for Alex, he said: “Time for some rest now and I’ll be back out in the new year.”

Alex has picked up some fine praise from well-known names in the boxing community, Anthony Crolla has given constant praise and Nathan ‘Hitman’ Heaney took to Twitter to congratulate Alex on his fifth professional win.

Murphy still trains in Salford and has won many of his bouts in and around his home city.
