A woman in Salford has been temporarily rehoused after a burst water pipe has left the bottom floor of her house flooded.

Suzanne Blake, who took an early retirement to remodel the house, is now having to relocate for three months whilst United Utilities resolve the problem.

Blake said: “My house is ruined, I moved in last July and we renovated it totally.

“I took early retirement so I could spend my time doing it and now it’s going to be at least three months if not longer before we can come back.”

The pipe on Worsley Road burst at 3.15pm yesterday, and within two hours the entire lower level of Suzanne’s house as well as the outside area was flooded.

United Utilities sent contractors to the affected buildings, but due to the severity of the problem were unable to fix the issue immediately.

Blake continued: “For four and half hours the water ran two-foot deep through the house, the door frames are all damaged, the house needs decorating throughout and new flooring.

“We need to get rid of all the mud, the garden is filled with it, everywhere is full of mud and water.”

For the meantime, Suzanne and her husband Chris are moving into their son’s house before hopefully being temporarily rehoused by tomorrow.

United Utilities are still at Worsley Road working on a resolution.
