Salford Crescent is set to see a major regeneration plan with 950 homes proposed that will be built around the Peel Park Campus.
The plan is set to be part of the masterplan that will see a complete development of Fredrick Road and make the area the hub of the city.
Councillor Mike McCusker, Lead Member for Planning and Sustainable Development, spoke about the proposed plan and how he wants the area to be a “desirable” place for people to live.
Cllr McCusker said: “The Crescent sits in an important area; the plan is to transform the area for global significance.
“It’s about making it a wow factor.”

The proposed project will see homes that will cover space that is the size of 15 football pitches that will aim to add 3,400 full time jobs to the community.
And with the Salford City Council aiming to become carbon neutral by 2038, it will also see an addition of more carbon free transport to the area.
Cllr McCusker said: “People’s first impressions of Salford Crescent is a poor one. We are creating a mobility hub for the city.”
The proposals have been met with some adversity with one Facebook comment stating: “Wow if things aren’t bad enough living in the middle of student accommodation now, they are trying to build more.
“The car wash has gone now to make for it. Enough is enough.”
All these new homes/businesses etc is great but not much is being done to improve the surrounding infrastructure to support the extra people/traffic these developments will bring

But despite this as a Lead Member for Planning and Sustainable Development, Cllr McCusker stressed that the project is for everyone and “creating a beautiful accessible space”.
The plans looks to take place over the next 20 years, with the early developing proposals to be drawn up by early 2023.
