A new children’s play area, accessible for wheelchairs and buggies, is set to open in Swinton next month.
The play area on Campbell Road will feature climbing frames, slides, play castles, roundabouts, an aerial runway, an activity trail, a tyre swing and traditional swings.
Subject to the completion of flooring, the park is set to open in April.
The play area is part of the planning agreement for the Bellway Homes development and has been funded by developer, through a commitment to give back to the community.

Councillor Barbara Bentham, Lead Member for Environment, Neighbourhoods and Community Safety said: “This will be a great new facility for young children in the local area and I’m looking forward to seeing it in use. It’s fantastic to have another addition to our collection of parks and play areas across the city.”
Councillor Jim Cammell, Lead Member for Children’s and Young People’s Services and ward councillor said: “I’m really pleased to see this new space for children to enjoy.
“It’s important for young children to stay active and get plenty of fresh air and this new play area has a whole range of equipment to keep them busy. I’m sure it will be well used by local children and those who come via the Swinton Greenway.”

Great news, I’m pleased to see this as we often see reports on new housing estates which takes up our green spaces and adds more concrete to the eye. I wish our smaller parks and play areas could get the same investment though
I sincerely hope this Park will be looked after by all and not subject to vandalism, it’s looking amazing but a small minority may ruin it due to its location. I hope not but I am concerned. I would have like to have seen an outdoor gym area for older children and adults.
