However Neil Wood’s side will go in to the game confident, with their previous win in the Carabao Cup coming away at Championship side Preston North End.

Salford will hope to take another scalp on Tuesday night under the lights and in front of the SkySports cameras.

Leeds United come in to the game off the back of their first league win of the season over Ipswich Town. Their last game in the Carabao Cup saw the Yorkshire side come from behind against League One Shrewsbury Town.

Previewing the game after Saturday’s loss to Accrington Stanley, Salford boss, Neil Wood, said: “We’ll pick ourselves up, it’s a really tough game. I think if you can’t get motivated for a game like that then you probably shouldn’t be involved in football.

“It’s going to be a tough challenge, one we’re looking forward to. It’s always good to play against teams from the higher leagues.”

The two sides previously met in 2019 in the first round of the Carabao Cup, with the visitors running out 0-3 winners. The Leeds side that day featuring players such as Ben White, Eddie Nketiah and Kalvin Phillips who all now play in the Champions League.
