A volunteer at Eccles Mosque on Liverpool Road has given a gloomy outlook to the escalating conflict between Hamas and Israel.

Hamas, alongside the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, fired 5000 rockets into Israel on Saturday. Around 100 gunmen crossed the border from Gaza and began a brutal massacre killing of Israeli civilians.

Israel has launched a counter offensive strike deploying troops as well as missiles which hit 200 targets on the Gaza strip. The death toll has reached 1600 with many more casualties expected to be announced soon.

“It’s going to accelerate and get worse and worse,” said Ali, 79. “The world is like this, everywhere it’s happening. It’s happening in Kashmir, it’s happening in Chechnya, Ukraine and this has started now. I don’t see an end to it.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has further spoken on turning Gaza into “rubble” after asking Palestinians to leave the area. However, this will provide difficult for most people who live there due to Israeli rules surrounding Gaza.

Ali added: “The only future is if they talk to each other, sit down and talk to each other but there is no talk, just guns and missiles and tanks.”

“No matter where the war happens it always ends up on the table, that’s where it will finish.”

The leaders of the UK, US, France, Germany and Italy have released a joint statement supporting Israel. The five countries contribute to make the Quint International Organization.

Their statement reads: “We make clear that the terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, no legitimacy, and must be universally condemned.”

Ali further stated: “I can’t see any solution to it because I don’t see any effort to find a solution. I don’t see any effort from the UN, America, any country, I don’t see any efforts from anywhere.”

“They don’t want to find a solution it’s a blame game. Some blame Israel; some blame Hamas.”
