Salford

Veterans and serving military personnel are to be recognised in Salford this month as the city hosts a series of events in their honour.

A flag-raising ceremony, a community parade and the display of banners at the town hall are among the events planned for National Armed Forces Week.

The annual event, which celebrates the people who serve or who have served their country, runs from Monday 22 – Sunday 28 June.

Salford residents are being encouraged to join in the celebrations and come together to pay tribute to local service personnel during the city’s centenary year.

“Armed Forces Week gives communities across Salford the opportunity to come together and honour our Armed Forces, both past and present,” said Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Robin Garrido.

“It is a meaningful time to show our gratitude and support for the Armed Forces community, and to recognise the enormous sacrifices and contributions made in service of our country.”
