Manchester International Football Academy has announced an open day for year 10 and 11 students in Kersal on October 24.

The academy encourages the development of football skills while understanding the need for continued education.

They run a variety of football training and study programmes where football players can gain internationally recognised qualifications.

Ross Johnson formed the academy in 2011 and has since welcomed people from 80 different countries.

The academy has previously coached Enrique Wild who has represented the U20 Swiss team three times and Jalil Saadi who is currently at Blackburn Rovers.

However, their most recent success is Zakaria El Ouahdi who has recently made his debut for KRC Genk who are currently seventh in the Belgian Pro League. Zakaria has also played eight times for Morocco’s Under-23s side.

The two education and training programmes are as follows:

  • The level two preparation for public services and football.
  • The level three extended diploma in sport.

Ellie Driver, at Manchester International Football Academy, said: “They have a lesson in the morning train from 11am to 1pm and then have another lesson in the afternoon.”
