Salford City will face Colchester United on Friday night in what will be billed as a six-pointer at the wrong end of the League Two table.
Salford have just one win in their last 10 league games, with their last win coming away at Doncaster Rovers in October, a loss on Friday night would see the Ammies hit two calendar months without a league win.
The poor run of form sees Salford sit 20th in League Two and just two places above Colchester United.
The hosts will come into Friday’s game off the back of five consecutive losses in all competitions however, which will give Neil Wood’s side hope for three points.
The Essex-based side have not kept a clean sheet in the league for seven games which bodes well for Salford’s stuttering attack, who have failed to score in their last two league games.

The Ammies’ last two games do provide a mixed bag, with Salford unable to score in either fixture, but also earning clean sheets against the top scorers in the league in Stockport County and shutting out the impressive Ali Al-Hamadi and Omar Bugiel from AFC Wimbledon.
Wood was quick to praise his side’s defensive abilities in his last match, saying:
“Building something starts with not losing games, we’ve been doing a lot of work on that over the last couple of months to improve.”

However, Wood will be hoping to start turning these draws into wins if Salford are to have any chance of playoffs at the end of the season, which the Ammies currently sit 13 points off of.
Any Salford fan making the four-and-a-half-hour, 245-mile trip down to Colchester will be deserving their plaudits whatever the result on Friday night.
