A Salford artist is showcasing her artwork inspired by the city at an exhibition open to the public this week at Langworthy Cornerstone.

Davies is known to be Salford Precinct’s first ever artist in residence and her work is largely based on ‘capturing the city’ of Salford through a ‘multimedia of art’.

After a successful opening night on Friday 26 at the Langworthy Cornerstone, where everyone was welcome, Davies’ art is now being shown to the public in a friendly space.

Chelsea stated via a Facebook post: “I want to thank every single person that came this evening, it has meant the absolute world to me.”

The exhibition is open to see from Monday to Friday at 8am to 8pm and so far there has been a lot of interest in the art.

Centre Co-ordinator Karen Dyson said: “Chelsea has already taken many pieces down as there were so many sold on opening night, there was a lot of positive feedback”.

The art is available for anyone to buy with prices ranging from £80 to £200, much of the work is centred around Salford with fun and colourful twists.

Salford city Councillor Hannah Robinson Smith was present at the opening and is  “very much a prolific supporter of Chelsea’s work”, along with many others in and around Manchester.

Karen Dyson says they have a ‘rotating gallery’ at the centre, where there is always fresh artwork to attract new interest and change up the walls.

Artists like Davies have an opportunity to showcase their work to a wide audience, as well as giving Salfordians local enjoyment.

Dyson added that in between the Art of Salford group showing their work the rest of the time local artists can sign up to have their art appear for a period of time and it is currently free.

“We can encourage them, if you look at the walls it’s far better to have some art on than blank walls!”

Chelsea’s art is available at Langworthy Cornerstone from Friday 26 until Sunday March 4.
