Salford City welcome 20th place Doncaster Rovers to the Peninsula stadium tonight looking to extend their six-game unbeaten run.

Feeling confident after by a last minute equaliser away at Swindon town, the Ammies will be looking to follow up against a visiting side plagued by inconsistency.

Under the management of Robinson, the Ammies have looked to be a side reborn. Determined to play to the strengths of leading marksman Matt Smith, Salford City’s commitment to direct play could pose real problems for the visiting side with a set-piece Achilles heal.

Smith was on hand to profit from the South-Yorkshire outfits defensive woes, cashing in to hit a hat-trick in the reverse fixture.

Doncaster Rovers have struggled to cope the with the aerial threats posed by the opposition this season. Manager Grant Mcann seems uncertain of best back line and defensive summer signings such as Richard Wood are yet to have seen a consistent run in the starting eleven.

Yet at the start of the season, tonight’s game looks like it may be significant at the other end of the League Table. With return of Doncaster Rovers most successful manager in recent memory over the summer, Grant Mccann’s arrival appears to be a real statement of intent with the team looking to bounce back from a disappointing 22/23 campaign.

Despite Mccann’s higher league pedigree and past success with the club, throughout his second stint in Doncaster he has so far failed to drive Rovers up the table.

Doncaster Rovers have now suffered 67 league defeats since the beginning of the 21/22 season.

Despite their poor performances, traveling fans of the away side may be able to take some solace in the form of top goal scorer, Joe Ironside. The former Cambridge frontman has been a bright spark in an otherwise dismal season.

Although, Ironsides 13 goal tally this campaign is no match for the scoring record of Smith. With 20 league goals to his name this season, his performances have not only propelled Salford to important points, they have put him firmly in contention for the golden boot.

With 11 goals scored in their unbeaten run Robinson has got his side firing in front of goal. He will be hopeful that his side can record a league double over their opponents under the lights at the Peninsula stadium (kick off is at 3pm).
