Students of Ellesmere Park High School in Salford  celebrated their GCSE results yesterday, after another year of excellence.

The students joined teenagers across the country who were finding out their GCSE results following exams in May and June.

The youngsters have faced many challenges,  including the disruption to their education during the pandemic five years ago, when this year’s GCSE students were in their final year of primary school.

Despite this, Year 11 students across the country are celebrating fantastic achievement at GCSE, with the students of Ellesmere Park being no exception.

And the school itself saw a 10 per cent increase in students achieving grade 4 and above in English and maths, and an 8 per cent increase in students achieving grade 5 and above in English and maths, being the best results by far for many years at Ellesmere Park.

Part of Consilium Academies, there were some some high performers on results day such as Libby Broad, who achieved seven grade 9s and one grade 8.

As well as Rebekah Lane, who achieved seven grade 9s and one grade 8, and Charlie Backhouse who received one grade 9, two  grade 8s, three grade 7s and one grade 6.

Following the results day, Iain Ross, Headteacher at Ellesmere Park High School, said: “The students at Ellesmere are second to none and these results demonstrate this in every way.

“We are very proud of our students and their excellent GCSE results this year. These outcomes are a testament to their hard work and determination, particularly in the face of the challenges they have encountered in recent years.

“I wish all our Ellesmere Park students every success as they move forward into the next stage of their employment, education or training.”

And this was continued by Michael McCarthy, CEO at Consilium Academies, said: “A massive well done to all our students at Ellesmere Park High School for their GCSE success.

“It has been an honour to play a part in shaping their journeys, and our dedicated staff have worked tirelessly to equip them with the knowledge and skills to follow their future paths.

“These achievements, along with the valuable experiences they have gained at Ellesmere Park, will serve them well as they move forward into the next chapter of their lives and beyond.”
