Salford RLFC have agreed a sponsorship deal with local recruitment firm Morson Group.

Morson, who became Salford Red Devils’ main sponsor in 2019 after their run to the Super League Grand final, will feature on Salford’s shirts in the Championship this season.

The recruitment group previously sponsored Salford Red Devils before the club was liquidated and later reformed. Their renewed backing of Salford rugby is seen as a vote of confidence in the new leadership structure.

Ryan Brierley, Salford RLFC CEO, was delighted to have struck a deal with a sponsor with close ties to rugby league in the city.

“It’s massive for the club and the city, being attached to a brand like Morson is pretty special,” he said.

He reserved praise for Ged Mason, the CEO of Morson, who hails from Salford and received an OBE for his charity work.

“I think I can vouch for everyone and say that Ged Mason’s (CEO of Morson) values around business and life is pretty impressive. Personally, as a new leader in sport, it is something I want to aspire to and live by.

“Morson have been massive for us, I think last year we let them down to an extent and didn’t give them the value and exposure, with obviously the tragic circumstances last year.”

The former Salford Red Devils, who were wound up by the High Court over outstanding debts at the start of December, finished bottom of Super League following a mass exodus of first-team players whose wages had gone unpaid under the previous regime.

Three weeks later, a consortium led by director Mason-Caton Brown was chosen to resurrect the club and Salford RLFC were granted Championship membership for 2026.

They recorded their first league win at the weekend against Hunslet and will aim to make further history this season with the backing of Ged Mason and the Morison Group, who could play a huge part in success to come.
