Irlam FC find themselves in a strong position as they enter the last handful of games in the 25/26 NWCFL Season.

At the even of rhe tun-in to the end of the season, Irlam sit fourth in the table on 73 points from 37 games, finding themselves level on points with fifth-placed Padiham and just one point behind third-placed Chadderton.

The race for the playoff places remains extremely tight, and victory tonight would give Irlam a valuable cushion over several chasing sides.

With stakes exceptionally high for the hosts, promotion would see Irlam reach the highest level in the club’s history, moving into the Northern Premier League Division One West for the first time.

Irlam eye up one of their highest finishes yet, proving the doubters wrong and looking to secure a spot in a league containing some of the strongest semi-professional clubs in the country.

For a community club with a ground capacity of around 1,000, climbing the non-league pyramid would represent a major milestone and further raise the club’s profile across Greater Manchester.

A playoff finish is therefore the immediate target. Sitting just outside the automatic promotion places currently occupied by Wythenshawe, Ramsbottom United and Chadderton, Irlam know every point will be crucial in the final stretch of the season.

Promotion could see the Salford-based club bring in bigger crowds, stronger cup runs and increased media attention.

In addition, it would certainty boost the clubs profile within the local community, attracting sponsorships, youth talent and more active engagement and funding; cementing their status as a rising force in Greater Manchester’s competitive football community.

Irlam host Stockport Town tonight (19:45 Kick Off) in a key North West Counties League Premier Division fixture that could shape the final weeks of the season.

Stockport Town currently sit 10th with 60 points from 38 matches. While they are currently outside the playoff spots, they remain capable of causing problems for promotion hopefuls and will be eager to disrupt Irlam’s momentum.

Three points tonight would strengthen their grip on a playoff position and increase the gap to several rivals just behind them in the standings.

With the promotion dream alive and the home following behind them, this fixture could be another important step in what has already been a historic campaign for Irlam.
