Manchester Swinton Lionesses are back in action on Thursday 12 March in a pre-season friendly against Widnes Vikings.

The match will take place at Ince Rosebridge Sports and Community Club in Wigan, where a £2 donation at the gate will be required for admission, with all proceeds going towards the Swinton Lions Foundation.

The Lionesses have played two other pre-season games, winning against Leigh Miners Rangers 52-0 and losing to Barrow Raiders Ladies 42-8.

They have also been to Spain to continue their training in mid-February to prepare them for the start of the season in April.

The Manchester Swinton Lionesses are looking for success again after winning their first trophy in 2025 against Salford in the Challenge Shield.

The Lionesses take on Salford on 19 April in the Women’s National Championship and their final pre-season game aims to bring fans to see them in action before the season starts.

In October, the womens team rebranded from Swinton Lionesses to Manchester Swinton Lionesses in a move Team Chair Jason Harborow said would ’embrace Manchester, one of the world’s great sporting cities.’

The team will play competitively under their new name for the first time when their National Championship Campaign begins against Salford on 5 April.
