50 night bus Salford

The number 50 bus in Salford will now run around the clock from Thursday to Sunday.

The service connects MediaCity to East Didsbury via Manchester city centre,

Salford City Council says the move will help shift workers get to work and provide safe option for people enjoying the nightlife in Salford and Manchester.

The 50 joins the V1 and 36 services, which already operate night routes through the borough. TravelSafe officers will monitor and support the services.

The expansion forms part of a wider rollout by Transport for Greater Manchester, which sees five new 24-hour routes launch across every borough in the city region. Alongside the Salford service, night buses will now operate between Manchester and Tameside (216), Trafford (263), Stockport (192), and Oldham (83).

Visiting the bus at MediaCity, Deputy City Mayor Mike McCusker said an affordable public transport option helping people get home safely late at night will make a huge difference to residents, improving connectivity across Greater Manchester and supporting the growing night-time economy.

Around 625,400 people work in the night-time economy across Greater Manchester. Transport bosses estimate the five additional routes will add more than 1,600 timetabled kilometres per week to the network, building on existing improvements shaped by local feedback since franchising began.
