MyPitchFirst is the app that allows you to browse and book venues for many different sports. You can now book facilities in Manchester and Salford, where app founder Jamie Foale declares is “the home of football”.

Jamie Foale, co-creator of MyFirstPitch

Whilst at university, Jamie Foale saw a gap in the market for a service that makes sports booking simple. “My best friend and I were organisinig our football team but kept on coming up against the challenges of booking facilities” Jamie told me “we used apps like TripAdvisor and OpenTable regularly, and knew that the underlying technology was very much possible to build between any booking system”. The experience led Jamie to make MyPitchFirst, as a website and later as a smartphone app.

After successful launches in London and Dublin, the app is now available to use in Manchester and Salford. Venues available to book offer a wide range of sports from Hockey to Football to Tennis.

“We had been looking at Manchester for a while” Jamie said “We know there’s a really big population of sports players, we also know that there are a lot of sports venues we could speak to”

“Salford Community leisure are a progressive group who were very keen from the off set to get involved” Jamie recalled “they saw what we were doing in London, and felt that it would be a good service to bring to the local residents of Salford”.

Through integrating with Salford Community leisure, some of Salfords most notable sports facilities are available to book on the app, including Salford Sports Village “It’s a really amazing football venue” Jamie said “with 14 different pitches in all different shapes and sizes”.

MyFirstPitch

In the mobile age, MyPitchFirst is another app that makes a service easily accessible at the press of a finger. “Searching various databases and presenting the best time slots to the user, that is really the key concept of the company” Jamie told me “we feel that if we make it easier to book sports facilities, more people will play it more regularly and it will drive up participation.”
