Salford Red Devils first team returned to AJ Bell Stadium last week to begin their pre-season training ahead of the 2019 Super League season.

The first day of pre-season training saw efforts from brand new signings Gil Dudson, Adam Lawton and Jansin Tugot – as well as the return of last season’s star player, Jackson Hastings, along with hooker, Joey Lussick.

Turgot joined Red Devils to feature against Leeds for the Qualifiers and has since returned as a permanent member of the squad.

He said: “We sat down and spoke about where we want to be and what type of club we want to be. We spoke about how we want to be a family club and a community club and we’re very aware that the fans are helping out massively on that side of things.

“We’re just trying to do our best, work hard and hopefully get the results in pre-season to help go on and get the results in the season and pay the fans back.”

It was also the first pre-season session at the club for signings Ed Chamberlain and Greg Burke, who joined Salford half way through last season.

Junior Sa’u, Rob Lui and Ben Nakubuwai also returned after spending the last two months in Australia.

With many new players joining the Squad ahead of the 2019 Super League season, the club have used the campaign #StrongerTogether to promote their family and community values.

Head Coach, Ian Watson, said: “The beauty about rugby is that you build relationships up really quickly and it’s one thing that we’re really keen to build on here this year, with a team first mentality and working hard for each other.

“If you look at our squad this year, we’ve invested in quality. We’re a small squad but every penny has gone into quality.

“It’s important to have that to get the genuine competition around our team and we’ve got a lot of utility value in there as well, with our players being able to play numerous positions.”

The 2019 Super League season will start with their pre-season friendly at home against Swinton Lions on 12 January.
