BB gun

Police have confirmed that the weapon used in an apparent shooting in Salford on Sunday night was a BB gun and said the incident is being treated as assault.

A nurse who lives close to where the incident happened said it brought back memories of a someone firing a shotgun through her next door neighbour’s window five years ago.

The victim was taken to hospital but has since been discharged. Nobody has been arrested.

Mary Clark, 42, of Douglas Green, lives close to Concord Place where the incident happened at 6.15pm on October 30.

She had thought it was a real gun and said: “I do not know all the details of what’s happened or anything like that but I suppose it is sad that people walking across the street  are getting shot for whatever reason and it’s sad as well that there could have been a child involved or just an innocent by stander.

“So I think it’s a bit worrying that we are living in that kind of society where people just shoot each other.”

Ms Clark said it could have been her and she said that the police did their job and got to the location very quickly.
