New NHS diagnostic and testing centre to open in Eccles retail park

A new top-of-the-range NHS diagnostic and testing centre is set to open in Eccles retail park this year.

Salford Community Diagnostic Centre, located in Eccles West One Retail Park, will work to create a fast-track diagnostic and treatment centre for conditions such as cancer, heart and lung disease.

The first of its kind to open in a retail setting in Greater Manchester, thousands of Salfordians will be able to visit the site a year, away from the busy environment of a hospital.

The centre will offer high tech scanning, heart tests and other diagnostic services, ensuring patients can then be treated faster. Patients will be able to access the services via a referral from their GP or clinician.

In collaboration between Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) and InHealth, the UK’s largest specialist provider of diagnostic solutions, funding for the centre has been provided by NHS England.

“Providing these services in an easy to access retail centre connects to the wider national vision of ‘scanning on the high street’ by actually making it a reality for the people of Salford.”

“InHealth has been working in partnership with the NHS for more than 30 years, with 11 existing Community Diagnostic Centres in England, so we’re delighted to be expanding this model across the country.”

By the end of 2025, there will be 26 CDCs across the North West, six of them in Greater Manchester.

Salford Community Diagnostic Centre will open later this year.
