AJ Bell Stadium, Salford red Devils fixture list

Salford Community Stadium has been chosen as one of eight spaces to host the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Set to run from 22 August until 27 September 2025, the tournament will see Salford’s former AJ Bell stadium, Exeter’s Sandy Park, Northampton’s Franklin’s Garden, Brighton’s Amex Stadium, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, the York Community Stadium and Bristol’s Ashton Gate stadiums host the games. 

Twickenham 82,000 seater Stadium has been earmarked for the final.

In a tweet, Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, said: “I’m delighted the City of Salford & our Community Stadium has been announced as one of the hosts. I look forward to welcoming the Red Roses & Teams from around the World to our great City.”

England’s women’s team last hosted the World Cup in 2010, and last won the tournament in 2014.

Sue Day, RFU Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting Rugby World Cup 2025, it is going to be incredible. We would like to thank Government for their support in making this possible. Working closely with Government, UK Sport, Sport England and World Rugby together we will create a lasting legacy for women’s rugby in England, the UK and across the world, both in terms of attracting more people to play and attracting new fans.”
