Brodie Croft

Salford Red Devils have confirmed that Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers have left the club.

The pair have joined Leeds Rhinos, with both signing three-year deals at Headingley.

It comes after the Reds announced the signing of Papua New Guinea international Nene McDonald, who was released by the Yorkshire side.

26-year-old Croft joined Salford in 2022 from NRL’s Brisbane Broncos and hit the ground running upon his arrival.

The Australian secured 32 try contributions in his debut season, with 25 assists and 7 tries, on his way to claiming the Super League’s Man of Steel award.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Croft signed a 7-year deal at the AJ Bell Stadium, securing his stay at the club until 2030.

But it seems that Salford, with their financial worries becoming more prevalent, have decided to cash in on the Croft and Ackers.

In an interview with the Rhinos, Croft said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to Paul Rowley and everyone at the Salford club who has supported me over the last two years and I wish them all the best for the future.”

Ackers joined the Red Devils in 2020 from Toronto Wolfpack on a two-year deal, which was extended further in 2022.

The England international played 74 games for the Reds, scoring 10 tries.

Ackers said to Leeds club media: “I have had three great years at Salford and will always be grateful for my time there.”

Salford will now be missing two key players going into the 2024 season, with Paul Rowley now tasked to find their replacements.
