The Salford Red Devils have unveiled their fifth signing as Australian Cade Cust joins on a one-year deal with the option of extension.

The halfback had previously been playing for local team Wigan Warriors. Making 40 appearances and scoring six tries in two years.

Cust said on the clubs website: “I am really looking forward to meeting everyone involved and to the fans. I am a competitor who loves the game and can’t wait to represent you all.”

Cust joins after the Devils lost Brodie Croft to Leeds Rhinos. Croft who plays scrum-half joined on a three year deal after leaving Salford earlier this year.

Cust, while not the obvious replacement, has been compared to Croft on social media and the 25-year-old will undoubtedly be looking to continue his development under the current coaching team.

The move comes in the off season and is the fifth addition to Paul Rowley’s. Paul Rowley added: “After some good conversations with Cade, it is clear to me that his enthusiasm, determination, belief and good character are a great fit and addition to our group.”

Cust will look to help the Red Devils start the 2024 season strongly after a disappointing end to their recent campaign, with a semi-final loss to St Helens.

That being said they have set the foundations for a strong new season. With five new additions including Cust, they are set to be hopeful about the upcoming season.

The arrival of Cust has been met with much praise on social media such as X (Twitter) as fans took to the clubs posts about the signing.
