Campus Living Villages aims to build a third 24-storey tower block near the Salford Precinct in plans submitted to the council.

The plans also detail the refurbishment of the two existing student blocks on campus, by extending them vertically by another two storeys.

This would double the number of current beds at the campus located off Belvedere Road in Pendleton.

Campus Living Villages aims to add 794 bed spaces as well as the new tower, which would feature 690 beds.

The new block would be built in between the existing blocks, John Lester and Eddie Colman.

The estimated development cost for the whole project is around £90m.

Campus Living Villages pointed out in a financial viability report that the site is located in a “mixed use location with a variety of uses in the immediately surrounding area just outside City Centre.

“Salford Shopping Centre and former bingo hall are to the South West of the site. To the west is the Pendleton Police Station and to the east is a small builders yard.”

John Lester and Eddie Colman, both 15 storeys, currently provide around 700 bed spaces. The extensions however would add a further 104.

If the Pendleton scheme is approved, it would see the number of student rooms at the scheme exceed 1,400.
