Salford City travel to South Wales as they look search for their third consecutive league win against Newport County.

The Ammies have made the journey to the Rodney Parade for tonight’s fixture (Tuesday 19 August), and will look for a similar performance show in their 2-1 win against Accrington Stanley.

The game saw goals from Ben Woodburn and Luke Garbutt make the difference, with Karl Robinsons’ side doing just enough to secure all three points.

The victory over Accrington Stanley will bring a lot of confidence for the away side, especially as they will look to continue their eight-game unbeaten streak away from home, a run that stretches back to a 2-2 draw at Swindon Town at the start of March.

However, this run of away form for the Ammies will be truly tested this evening, as Salford were unable to get a win last time they visited the Rodney Parade.

The Ammies visited in October 2024, and were beaten 3-1, with a late consolation goal by Cole Stockton giving the travelling fans something to cheer about.

However, Newport’s 3-1 win over Salford was the first one they secured in 10 fixtures, ending a run of six straight defeats.

Heading into this game, Karl Robinson will be hoping to reignite that losing streak and continue their winning form.

Salford supporters will have memory of their most recent meeting, when the game finished 1-1 in January at the Peninsula Stadium.

And a win tonight for Salford City would also be the club first in South Wales since April 2023 – when substitute Matt Smith clinched the three points.

Collecting all three points will be no easy task for Karl Robinsons’ side, facing a side who have only suffered one defeat, but a win tonight could see the club move into the playoffs for the first time this season.

And with the target being promotion, it is exactly the start the Ammies will be looking for – as they kick off against Newport County at 7.30pm at the Rodney Parade.
