Plans are moving forward for a new environmentally friendly neighbourhood near Salford Crescent, as fresh proposals have been submitted for a sustainable residential development.
The English Cities Fund has put forward detailed plans to build 185 new apartments on the site of the Farmer Norton car park, located on Cleminson Street in Salford.
This development forms part of the broader Crescent Salford regeneration project.
At Crescent Salford, the entire neighbourhood plans to boast over 800 new homes that prioritise environmental sustainability, biodiversity and plenty of wildlife habitats.
The first phase of the plan, initially proposed earlier this year at the Adelphi Village, was for 700 new homes on Peru Street, also in Salford.
The new phase of this plan includes two linear buildings, which are 5 and 6 storeys in height and positioned for maximum daylight.
This “masterplan”, delivered by ECF, Salford City Council, and the University of Salford, hopes to create an environment which can “reflect Salford’s rich industrial history, taking inspiration from the Adelphi Iron Works”
Senior project manager at ECF, Lawrence Myatt said, “By making better use of this underutilised brownfield site, we’re making an important contribution to local housing needs”
In a bid to tackle an increasingly unstable climate, creating this new neighbourhood can contribute to helping Salford’s sustainable future.
Myatt continued: “We’ll provide high-quality houses and apartments which cater to diverse communities and are inspired by and in keeping with Salford’s industrial past, building on this to create a brighter future for the city.”
