Students of Ellesmere Park High School in Salford  celebrated their GCSE results yesterday, after another year of excellence.

Salford has achieved the third-highest improvement in GCSE results nationwide as 215 more people passed their secondary-level exams.

The number of young people achieving grade four in both English and Maths has risen by nine per cent since 2019 and four per cent since 2024.

Salford City Council has been celebrating the improvements in GCSE results with a rise of young people receiving grade 4 in both English and maths since 2024.

The council implemented an attendance strategy in 2024, which has been a factor in the improvement of grades.

There has also been an improvement in literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.

Councillor Jim Cammell, lead member for children’s and young people services, said: “The latest figures for 2019 to 2025 show our schools are doing a great job of helping young people to develop and achieve well at GCSE.

“We work closely with schools to give them the support they need to give Salford children a high-quality education.”

Salford City Council are continuing to improve education throughout Salford to ensure the continuation of the improvement of grades.

It was a particularly good year for results for schools, including Irlam, Cadishead, The Lowry, Salford City Academy, and The Albion academy with multiple students achieving multiple high grades each.
