Adult safeguarding week is dedicated to creating awareness of the protection of adults from neglect and abuse.

Each year the week has a different theme coordinated by the national campaign.

The Ann Craft Trust uses the theme to help focus the fundraising.

Last year looked at “working in partnership”, emphasizing the need for partnerships that allow people to share their knowledge ultimately creating a safer culture.

This year the trust is focussing on the idea of prevention, ‘act before abuse’.

They will be talking about the guidance ‘put into place over the concerns of abuse’ and to help lessen the risk of abuse repeating itself.

The trust is also focussing on ensuring that people have the right tools and lessons for when something bad might happen.

Their main focus is on knowing how to prevent any abuse from happening in the first place.

The week aims to look closely at different organisations methods of prevention.

The organisers of the week, Ann Craft Trust, are holding webinars all week that anyone can register for.

While they mainly cover adult safeguarding, they are also offering training about safeguarding children.

Their safeguarding development officer, wrote that they have ‘Supported over 54 organisations with their adult and children safeguarding policies’ since their last safeguarding week in November 2024.

Salford community and voluntary services (CVS), a ‘city wide infrastructure’, provides support and a number of opportunities in city.

CVS helps to support organisations that want to develop volunteer programmes as well as individuals that may want to take part.

They have been supporting organisations in the city for over 100 years, first coming together in the community after World War one.

On Thursday 20th November 10.30am until 11.30pm they are running an online seminar, ‘Maclntyre’s everyone everywhere’, which is free to join.
