Salford City take on Walsall tonight, looking to cement themselves in the League Two play-off places after their victory over Barnet on Saturday.

Karl Robinson’s side face a Walsall side struggling for form as of late, with two losses on the bounce to Fleetwood and high-flying Notts County, where they conceded a decisive goal four minutes into stoppage time.

Salford sit sixth in League Two, only five points clear of tonight’s opponents, who find themselves 11th despite having been top of League Two at the turn of the year.

While The Ammies will be the more confident side heading into tonight on the back of an impressive victory on Saturday, they have failed to beat Walsall in their last five meetings.

Mat Sadler’s side will have won four of their last five games against Salford and are the third-best side away from home in League Two.

Salford will hope tonight’s game will help them to consolidate their position in the League Two play-off places after a blip throughout February and early March saw them briefly slip out of the top seven.

The Ammies’ 2-0 win against Barnet was only their second win in seven matches in England’s fourth tier.

Karl Robinson’s side have struggled as of late with injuries, but said: “We’re still soldiering on, we don’t come out moaning”, when speaking after the win on Saturday.

After their 2-0 victory against Barnet, Salford midfielder Matt Butcher said: “The teams that go up respond to poor moments better than the rest.”

Salford City will take on Walsall on 10 March at the Peninsula Stadium, 7:45pm kick-off.
