Salford City have added experience to their goalkeeping ranks following the signing of Lee Burge after his release from Northampton Town last summer.
The two-time League Two promotion winner has joined Peter Cklamovski’s men and will make up part of Salford’s 2026/27 squad.
Burge’s registration is said to be complete and the shotstopper is eligible to make up part of the matchday squad for Saturday’s trip to Rotherham.
The former Coventry City and Sunderland goalkeeper brings a world of experience and knowledge into a fresh new squad coinciding with the arrival of manager Peter Cklamovski in the summer of 2026, and becomes the third goalkeeper of the window to become an Ammie.
Burge’s professional footballing journey spans back to 2011, where his career began at Coventry, making 140 appearances across 8 years with the Sky Blues including a loan spell at Nuneaton Town in 2013. The Englishman started in the final of an EFL Trophy win while wearing the number one shirt for his parent club.
A year after securing promotion for the Sky Blues into League One in 2018, the stopper made the move up north to join Sunderland, making just under 50 appearances in 3 years in red and white, and experiencing yet more silverware on wearside, keeping a clean sheet in the final of the 2021 EFL Trophy and claiming his third career win at Wembley, before making the move down to League Two with Northampton Town.
Lee Burge becomes the 14th signing of the season for Salford under Peter Cklamovski’s reign.
