Salford’s small businesses have shared their thoughts ahead of a Christmas tackling the cost of living crisis

The Marker’s Market brings a community of creators and crafters together to set up their stalls, which feature a whole range of potential gifts for your family and friends this Christmas, from handmade soaps and scents to clothing and accessories.

42-year-old Property Lawyer, Natalie McGuinness, runs a handmade candle stall at the Markers Market. Despite the cost of living forcing prices up, Ms McGuinness has kept her prices the same, but she feels that luxuries are the first thing to be affected by the crisis.

She said: “Even though they are still affordable, I’ve not put my prices up because I feel like people still need to have a little bit of luxury, it is the first thing to go.”

Ms McGuinness said that her business has not been impacted hugely at the moment but she feels that is starting to change: “You can see it creeping in a little bit, especially today. When we have done markets in the past, it has been a lot busier.”
