The historic wall at Clowes Park has been lowered by one metre in a bid to prevent Anti-social behaviour.

Separating the play areas and the Life for a Life memorial forest, the red brick wall’s top metre was removed and construction work began on the remaining structure after health and safety concerns threatened the wall’s future.

Lowering the boundary wall allows for improved lines of sight into the memorial forest as well as assisting park patrols and self-policing in order to combat anti-social behaviour.

The park, which is located next to New Hall Road, has experienced anti-social behaviour for years, the most recent being the fatal knifing of a 17-year-old boy in February 2022.

Other suggestions to counter further Anti-social behaviour included installing CCTV cameras, providing lighting in the park and locking the perimeter gates at night.
