An Eccles-based salon has been placed in the district’s Top 10 in all four nominated categories.
McLaren and Co Barbering, Hair Replacements and Aesthetics have been nominated in: Barbershop of the Year, Best Salon, Best Business Branding and Best for Aesthetics.
The UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2023 aim to celebrate the hair and beauty industry and bring recognition to all businesses big or small.
Ian McLaren, owner and founder of McLaren and Co Barbering, Hair Replacements and Aesthetics is extremely grateful for the opportunity, he said: “It’s so nice to be in the Top 10 for all four categories as well as representing Eccles and Greater Manchester.”
Ian is a certified, fully insured practitioner, specialising in all forms of men’s grooming, professional barbering, hair replacement systems and aesthetics treatments. He is completely passionate about his work as he continues to get more certifications and go through courses.
He has been in the industry since he was 16 years old and last year to got his own shop. His husband Jack helped him to build his own business from scratch and is now a favourite with the people in Eccles.
He said: “I’m so glad I dived in and got my own shop 12 months ago, because if I didn’t do it then, I probably wouldn’t have done it. After renting chairs and working for other people’s shops and salons, I decided during lockdown, that instead of paying for other people’s businesses, it’s about time I set up my own and do it for myself.”
The UK Hair and Beauty Awards also present great opportunities for people with the same businesses to connect, Ian said: “We’re now looking forward to meeting people with the same interests and same passions at The UK Hair & Beauty Grand Final later this month in Birmingham. It’s nice supporting each other instead of trying to knock others down.”
The judges said to Ian, “We thoroughly enjoyed seeing what you’ve been up to this year and are excited to see what the future holds for you and your business. You have done absolutely amazing to get this far and we wish you best of luck for the 2023 Grand Final.”
Ian and his husband will now head to Birmingham for the Grand Final Red Carpet Event hosted by Duncan James and Jake Quickenden, on April 21st and 22nd where they will be competing locally representing the Top 10 from Eccles, followed by regionally and then nationally.
McLaren and Co Barbering, Hair Replacements and Aesthetics is open from 9am-8pm Monday to Friday and 9am-6pm on Saturday and take bookings and consultations and walk-ins are welcome too. It is located at 26 Church Street, Eccles, M30 0DF next to Eccles Tram, Rail and Bus Station.
