Salford City have confirmed the signing of centre-back Brandon Cooper, who has joined the club on a two-year deal.
The addition of the 25-year-old defender will look to strengthen Karl Robinsons’ side as they have their eyes and intention set on promotion this campaign.
A former Wales Youth and Under-21 international, began his playing career as a youngster in Swansea City’s academy, making his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace in August 2018.
Loan spells at Yeovil Town, Newport County, Swindon Town, and Forest Green Rovers followed, before Cooper made a permanent move to League One side Leyton Orient.
Brandon Cooper also went on to make 75 appearances for the club over the past couple of seasons, including helping them secure a play-off finish in May.
Following the announcement of signing the two-year deal with the Ammies, he said: “I am absolutely buzzing to be here, I cannot wait to get started.
“Last season we [Orient] got to the play-off final, it was a really good group, and I felt a really big part of that. I played a lot of games and ultimately I want to play in winning teams, that is where you want to be as a footballer.”
And with his wealth of higher league experience, he shared that this will be an important bonus as the club seeks promotion from the League Two.
He continued: “The experience that I had at Newport and Swindon in League Two was great, both were very good teams and made it to the play-offs, so that is only going to help me coming here.
“I want to bring the wealth of experience that I have gained at League One and Two to this Club, and help the lads in what is already a great squad.”
He added: “What has brought me here is the ambition and where the Club wants to go. I have got a lot of desire as a person, I am a winner and I want to win. After speaking with the Manager a few times and going to watch the team play, I could see with my own eyes what the club are trying to do.
“Seeing what the Club has done over the last few years really aligned with me, and I knew I really wanted to come.
“I feel like the team is comfortable on the ball, and that is something that is going to help me, so I can definitely see myself fitting in with the team, and now I just want to get out there!”
The 25-year-old may feature this Friday 29 August, as the Ammies will face off against Cheltenham at the Peninsula Stadium, as they look to get back to winning ways.
