Parr Fold Park in Walkden is holding a special immersive audio and visual experience called ‘What about me?’ It will take visitors around the park to hear the voices of hundreds of young people from Salford.
You will have the chance to hear the voices of local young people as you wander around the park, having authentic discussions about where they live, where they play, where they feel safe, and where they want the course of their life to take them.
These stories are brought to life through audio, film, and photography in an eye-catching takeover of Parr Fold Park, delivering the streets of Salford and the tower block skyline to the natural environment of the park.

Funding from The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Culture programme enabled Salford Community Leisure and Greater Manchester Arts (GM Arts) to commission Rochdale-based Breaking Barriers to create a project that empowered young people to explore, express and shape their own narratives within society and understand the local creative and cultural opportunities in the City.
Additional funding provided by Salford City Council Culture Team, Breaking Barriers were able to gather six assistants who are still studying or just starting their careers to help create the project.
Local communities can adventure through the park on the 23rd-25th October to learn about the secret cul-de-sac football matches and all the best spots for a sugary snack.
The vivid snapshots offer a through-the-looking-glass experience of visions of Salford’s future – one built by creativity, cheek and determination.
The experience concludes at the parks bandstand, where sound, projections and youthful voices come together in a striking vision of tomorrow’s world.
