Amended plans for 155 new homes set to be built in Salford have been tabled by the developer.

This follows the controversial approval of initial plans in 2025, which gave the green light to developers looking to convert green spaces around Wardley Woods and Hazlehurst Park into 400 new homes in a multi-stage process.

The amended proposal for Hazlehurst Farm from Story Homes aims to retain the core principles outlined in the original development plans while adjusting house types and footpaths. This includes building more houses with internal garages to provide a more open streetscape.

The provision of 20% on site affordable housing will be maintained, in line with the 2025 plans. There will be 124 homes for market sale and 31 affordable homes. These 155 homes will be built in the south-west area of the site during phase one of the multi-stage development.

The revised scheme will still provide high-quality housing, with significant infrastructure and environmental enhancements that align with the site’s housing allocation in Greater Manchester’s Places for Everyone Plan.

The Places for Everyone Plan is a joint development plan for the nine districts, aiming to guide new homes, jobs, and sustainable growth from 2022 to 2039.

As promised in 2025, development at the site will see a children’s play area constructed, safe walking and cycling routes built and access to the 59-acre Wardley Woods green space improved.

Phase two, which plans to introduce a further 245 homes, and reserves land for a new two-form entry primary school, currently remains unchanged. This phase will be carried out by Taylor Wimpy, a home construction company.

Despite this, concerns still remain over the loss of green spaces across the area, which spans from the M60 to the East Lancs road.
