Salford City have announced their second deadline-day deal, signing defender Dan Scarr from Wrexham AFC on a multi-year deal.
The move, for an undisclosed fee, is the Ammie’s thirteenth signing this summer and is believed to be the last.
The centre-back started his playing career in Non-League. He was a part of the Stourbridge team that reached the Third Round proper of the FA Cup in 2016-17. He was then picked up by his boyhood club, Birmingham City.
In 2017-18, he spent time on loan at Wycombe and achieved a third-place finish in Sky Bet League Two, resulting in promotion to Sky Bet League One.
What followed was moves to Walsall and then Plymouth, gaining promotion to the Championship with the Pilgrims after winning League One in 2023.
Scarr then made a move to Wrexham, where he won his third career promotion after the Welsh side finished second in League One. Last year he made 20 league appearances as Wrexham finished seventh, just outside the play-offs.
Speaking on his ambitions, the defender told Salford City “I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into it. From speaking to the manager, the owners, I know where they want to go and I feel like that aligns with the ambitions and the moments I want to create in my career so I’m really looking forward to it.
“When you look back they’re the moments you always remember and it gives you goosebumps looking back to those times.
“I’ve learnt that from every team I’ve been in, and I’ve picked up little bits at every team I’ve been successful at. That’s what’s sculpted me into what I am now, and hopefully I
can bring some of those qualities here and push on.”
This is the second deadline day signing for the Ammies, after signing Nathan Asiimwe on loan earlier today.
It has been a poor start to life back in League Two for Salford fans – being yet to pick up any points. Salford will play Newport County at home this evening, aiming to win their first game of the season.
