Office workers at a Salford business park were evacuated this morning and a road off Broadway was blocked off by emergency services following reports of a ‘suspicious package’.

Emergency services attended Unit 500 in Daniel Adamson Road after officers were alerted to a suspicious package about 9.45am this morning (Tuesday 6 December).

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have since assessed the package and confirmed it as ‘non-suspicious’.

The Fire and Rescue Services were also seen attending the scene around 10.45am.

A statement from GMP said: “Officers were alerted to a suspicious package in Salford Quays Media City at about 9.45am today (Tuesday 6 December).

“We can confirm the package was assessed and confirmed as non-suspicious.

“As a standard safety precaution, a cordon was put in place and nearby buildings were evacuated and some local roads were closed for a short period of time.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation.”
