A Victorian park in Walkden has won £1,500 for its community garden.
Parr Fold Park won the grant after topping a poll among Tesco shoppers in Walkden, Irlam, and Partington.
Voters had the choice of Parr Fold Park, Community Little Hulton and Christ The King RC Primary, with the park taking the grand prize.
The new budget will allow the park to invest into the community garden to encourage families in the area to get involved in their local park on Walkden Road.
The Friends of Parr Fold Park will host community gardening sessions at the park for families and children as well as much-needed gardening equipment, compost, and tools.
The success of winning the funding was met with create response on social media, with Sharon Hogan commenting: “Great news”, and John Smith responded “Well done one and all.
“
The gardening session will be accessible for families and young children every Saturday from 9.30 am to noon.
The investment in the community garden will be used to encourage visitors to explore the traditional landscaped gardens, mature trees and open lawns.
The park’s other features include a memorial garden, bowling green, pitch and putt course, tennis courts and children’s play area.
The Tesco Stronger Starts Scheme has already funded 39 other schemes in Salford.

Christ the king rc primary school Walkden were second receiving £1000 and in third place were CommUnity Little Hulton receiving £500.
Not all our previous winners are marked on the interactive map as Tesco have help many other salford groups including Dancing with Dementia, Salford Veterans, and St Andrews Methodist primary school.
