One of the UK’s leading performing arts schools has relocated its base in Salford from Media City to a school in Buile Hill.
Footlights Theatre has moved to Buile Hill Academy on Eccles Old Road and is set to celebrate the switch with a free Open Day on Saturday 17 January.
The organisation says the move, after 10 years in MediaCity, will allow the school to expand and become more accessible to young performers from across the region. Footlights runs acting, singing and dance tuition for children and young people aged 3-18.
Footlights Founder and CEO Jo Fisher described the change of location as “exciting” and explained what families attending the upcoming Open Day can expect.
“Our Open Day is a wonderful chance for more young people to experience our classes in a fun, supportive environment and to discover how performing arts can help build confidence for life,” she said.
During the Open Day, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in free dance, singing and acting taster sessions, meet Footlights teachers and learn more about the organisation’s training programme and performance opportunities.
Footlights says its students not only develop performance techniques but also build confidence, communication skills and self-belief through weekly classes in acting, singing and dance.
They commit to providing equal opportunities for every child, regardless of background or experience.
One of the parents who took advantage of the free trial at Footlights Media City said: “I took my three children. All the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. My kids loved every minute of it and want to go back every week!”
